What is Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)?

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is a highly advanced procedure where an endoscope is inserted through your mouth or anus to reach the area of concern. The endoscope is equipped with an ultrasound attachment that uses high-frequency sound waves to create clear, detailed images of your digestive tract and nearby organs. These high-resolution images offer a more accurate diagnostic tool compared to other imaging tests like CT scans, allowing your doctor to better assess digestive disorders and plan the appropriate treatment.

Reasons for EUS:
  • Diagnose Causes of Symptoms: Identify the cause of conditions such as abdominal pain, jaundice, or unexplained weight loss by examining the GI tract.
  • Cancer Assessment : Evaluate and detect small cancers in the pancreas or other digestive organs that other imaging tests, such as CT or MRI scans, may miss.
